North Petherwin is a parish in North Cornwall

It's the largest parish in England and often cited as the least populated parish too. It's a rural area, a few miles away from the nearest town, Launceston. The parish is comprised of numerous hamlets and outlying farms, often out of sight down long drives and tucked into valleys.  

Winding rivers and deep green lanes

The landscape is of winding rivers, stone bridges, far-reaching views and deep green lanes. The parish centre is North Petherwin, (also signposted Petherwin Gate) which is comprised of half a dozen small streets, with houses of various ages and styles. Some hundreds of years old and thatched, others built very recently in more modern styles. 

Churches, football, businesses and otters

North Petherwin centre has a church, three graveyards, a football pitch, a small industrial unit, a repair garage and a beautiful stone-built Parish Hall. Houses cluster around a crossroads, and whichever road you take, it is no more than a minute or two to leave houses behind and be on your own in the lanes. Interestingly, the parish has no pub or shop, but it is home to a nationally acclaimed otter and wildlife park!

North Petherwin Parish Council is one of 9000 parish councils in England.  It's a Council that reflects the different occupations and interests of parishioners. 

The Council meets on the last Wednesday of the month, in the village hall. The meeting usually begins at 7.30, although the time may occasionally vary. All members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend, after all, the Council is here to serve the community.  If you'd like to know what is to be discussed, please check the agenda online, or the parish noticeboards.
